Living Room Sessions
Event photography for a Queens-based variety show—capturing the energy, closeness, and emotion of each session so future audiences know exactly what to expect.
The project.
Living Room Sessions is a variety show that blends poetry, comedy, and music—hosted by Michael J. Morgan and Joaquin Capehart in Astoria, Queens. The goal was to strengthen the event's online presence and create a consistent photo library that could help promote future sessions.
Live events are hard to "explain" online. New audiences need to feel the vibe quickly: the room, the crowd, the intimacy, the performers, and the energy. Without strong photos, it's easy for an event page to feel generic.
Capturing the moments.
We photographed each session with a documentary approach—focused on the dynamic between hosts, performers, and the audience. We leaned into black-and-white edits to emphasize closeness and raw emotion, creating a timeless look that matched the spirit of the show.
A consistent visual style.
